Clean Water Initiative For Rural Communities

  •  Ongoing Project
  • Target Area: Sangam Vihar & Govindpuri, South Delhi
  • Start Date: 01 Aug 2025
  • Partners/Funders: ABC Trust; Local PHCs; Ward Councillors
  • Expected Completion: 31 Mar 2026
  • Lead/Coordinator: Ms. Neha Sharma, Program Lead
  • Objectives:
    • Increase awareness on maternal and child health among 5,000 households.
    • Facilitate access to primary care and government schemes.
    • Build a cadre of 60 trained community health volunteers.
  • Current Status:
The project has completed baseline mapping across four clusters and recruited 48 community volunteers. Two mobile health camps have been organized, reaching 1,127 residents. Coordination with PHC staff has improved referral turnaround for high-risk pregnancies. IEC materials in Hindi are under printing.
  • Key Activities:
    • Weekly door-to-door awareness sessions by volunteers.
    • Monthly mobile health camps with basic diagnostics.
    • Referral support and follow-ups for ANC/PNC cases.
    • Health entitlement help-desk for Ayushman & e-card registration.
    • Volunteer training and supervision meetings.
  • Beneficiaries:
7,800 students and 320 staff across 18 government schools received access to safe drinking water through installation of RO units and repair of existing systems.
  • Challenges:
Irregular availability of PHC doctors during afternoons has delayed referrals. Monsoon flooding causes session cancellations. Some households express hesitance due to misinformation around vaccinations.
