Construction Update of Samoon Adarsh Vidyalaya

On 19 October 2022, construction work for the Samoon Adarsh Vidyalaya commenced on the site identified by representatives of the local community. The land registration had already been completed, and the project had also received the necessary approval from the Ministry of Primary Education.

Members of the local community voluntarily contributed their labor toward the construction of the school. They also arranged locally available building materials, including stone, concrete, pit sand, river sand, and water, demonstrating their active participation and commitment to the project. The procurement of the remaining essential construction materials was still in progress.

The first phase of the Samoon Adarsh Vidyalaya project included the construction of:

Five classrooms
Two washroom blocks
Two teachers' rooms

It was planned that future expansions, including the addition of more classrooms and other facilities, would be funded through resources made available in subsequent financial years.

From 18 December 2022 to 22 December 2022, the Samoon Foundation team visited the Samoon Adarsh Vidyalaya project site to review the progress of the school's construction.

During the visit, the team inspected the construction site, held a meeting with the contractor to discuss the progress of the work and the plan for the upcoming phases, and reviewed the overall development of the project.

The team also interacted with the students, parents, and local villagers to understand their views and discuss the future development of the school. The visit helped strengthen community participation and ensured that the construction work continued according to plan.

The village remained cut off from road connectivity for nearly half the year because of heavy rainfall during the monsoon and heavy snowfall in winter, making the transportation of construction materials extremely difficult. Every construction season had to be carefully planned within the limited months when the roads were accessible.

As soon as the routes reopened, 100 bags of cement were transported to the site so that the remaining construction work of Samoon Adarsh Vidyalaya could be resumed without further delay. The arrival of these essential materials marked another significant milestone in the project and reflected the unwavering determination of the Samoon family and its supporters to establish a quality educational institution in one of the most remote regions of Uttarakhand. Despite numerous logistical challenges, the construction work continued with dedication, bringing the dream of providing better educational opportunities to the children of Osla closer to reality.
