On January 26, 2025, around 10 PM, a massive fire broke out in Sawani village, Tehsil Mori. The intense flames spread quickly, causing fear and panic. The fire was visible from neighboring villages, and people ran in all directions to save their lives. Several houses were engulfed in no time, causing widespread devastation. Unfortunately, there was a severe shortage of water, which made the fire spread even more rapidly.

The villagers tried their best to extinguish the fire, but it was uncontrollable. At 11:40 PM, Mr. Manish called the DEOC, which quickly sent teams from various departments. Fire services from Mori, Naugaon, and Purola, along with Mori police, also arrived. However, by then, everything had already burned to ashes. With the villagers' help, the fire was controlled by 2:41 AM.

Unfortunately, by the time the fire was contained, it had already caused significant damage. Around 9 houses were completely burned down, affecting 15-16 families. To prevent the fire from spreading further, 2 houses had to be completely demolished, and 3 houses were partially damaged. In total, around 22-25 families lost their homes, belongings, food grains, utensils, and other essential items. The fire left these families homeless, and they are now struggling to recover from this disaster.

These families not only lost their homes but also all their hard work and dreams turned to ashes. They now have no place to live, no food to eat, and no daily necessities. This fire has completely disrupted their lives, and they are making every possible effort to recover from this tragedy.

On 26 January 2025, a devastating fire broke out in Savni village, Tehsil Mori, Uttarkashi, causing widespread destruction. Despite the efforts of villagers, fire services, police, and emergency response teams, around 9 houses were completely destroyed, 2 houses were demolished to prevent the spread of fire, and 3 houses were partially damaged. In total, approximately 22–25 families lost their homes, belongings, food grains, utensils, and other essential possessions.

Following the disaster, many affected families were forced to live in temporary tents and struggled with insecurity and lack of basic facilities. Samoon Foundation actively supported the affected families by providing relief materials, food, and rehabilitation assistance. On 6 March 2025, the Foundation distributed rechargeable emergency lights to the families after learning that access to light at night was one of their most urgent needs. These lights helped improve safety, security, and daily living conditions for the affected families.

This initiative was made possible through the generous support of donors, well-wishers, and the community, whose contributions brought hope and relief to families recovering from the tragedy.
