1.
Purpose
The purpose
of this policy is to clarify Samoon Foundation’s stance on statutory social
security compliances such as Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF), Employees’ State
Insurance (ESI), and Professional Tax. These provisions are designed to
safeguard the welfare of salaried employees. This policy ensures transparency,
compliance with applicable laws, and preparedness for future organizational
growth.
2.
Current Applicability
Samoon
Foundation operates primarily as a volunteer-driven organization. At present:
- The number of salaried employees is less than ten.
- As per prevailing laws, mandatory registration under EPF, ESI, and
Professional Tax becomes applicable only once the organization reaches the
statutory employee threshold.
- Therefore, these statutory benefits are not currently applicable
to Samoon Foundation.
3.
Volunteer Engagement
Since most
of the work at Samoon Foundation is carried out by volunteers, statutory
obligations under social security legislations are not enforceable on
volunteers. Volunteers are not considered salaried employees and therefore do
not fall under the purview of EPF, ESI, or Professional Tax.
4.
Future Compliance
Samoon
Foundation is committed to adhering to all statutory requirements as and when
they become applicable. Specifically:
- If the number of salaried staff increases to the statutory threshold,
the organization will immediately initiate registration for EPF, ESI, and
Professional Tax.
- All eligible employees will be enrolled and provided with the benefits
as per law.
- Proper records and documentation will be maintained to ensure
transparency and accountability.
5.
Commitment to Employee Welfare
Even though
statutory compliance is not currently applicable, Samoon Foundation remains
committed to:
- Exploring alternative welfare measures for salaried staff (e.g., medical
bill reimbursement, leave benefits, or other support schemes depending on
available resources).
- Reviewing the organization’s staffing and compliance obligations
periodically to ensure timely action.
6.
Policy Review
This policy
will be reviewed annually or earlier if there is a significant change in
staffing levels or applicable laws. Amendments will be communicated to all
staff members in writing.
