Summary:
SSDC12 is functioning actively in a geographically remote area of Chamoli
district. Women from low-income families are attending regular training
sessions and showing strong dedication. Early evaluation shows significant
improvement in stitching skills, fabric handling, and cutting techniques.
Majority of the trainees are homemakers who are now preparing to start
home-based tailoring units.

Summary:
Located in the remote Himalayan region of Osla Village, SSDC13 is one of the
most challenging yet impactful centres. Due to difficult terrain and lack of
connectivity, women rarely get access to training facilities. This centre has
become a vital support system for the village, providing tailored skill
training to young girls and women. The participants have shown remarkable
enthusiasm and are progressing well.

SSDC14 – Kordi Village, Tehri Garhwal, Uttarakhand

Summary:
SSDC14 is the newest addition and has quickly become a hub of women-led
learning. The centre focuses on sewing, cutting, and basic garment finishing
skills. Trainees are already capable of creating simple garments and will soon
begin group production activities. Local villagers have appreciated this
initiative and participation is increasing steadily.

ongoing SSDC centres continue to play a transformative role in empowering rural
Himalayan women. With consistent training, dedicated trainers, and strong
community engagement, these centres are progressing smoothly and are on track
to deliver measurable socioeconomic impact.
Samoon
Foundation remains committed to expanding such centres into more remote
regions, ensuring that every willing woman gets a chance to learn, grow, and
become self-dependent.
