  • Socio-Economic Status of the Area & Need Assessment:

Osla is a last-mile Himalayan village located at 2590m altitude, inside Govind National Park, Uttarkashi. It is accessible only through a 16 km trek, with no road, no electricity, no stable network, and no functional government school.

    Community Challenges

    • 150+ children earlier had no access to education.
    • Teachers do not reach due to extreme remoteness.
    • Families survive on goat rearing, agriculture and daily labour.
    • Girls’ education was extremely low due to long-distance travel.
    • Roads remain blocked for 2–3 months in monsoon and 2 months in winter.

To address this crisis, Samoon Foundation established Samoon Adarsh Vidyalaya in 2021.
Today the school has 5 classrooms (Grade 1 to Grade 5) and serves 100–120 students every year with 100% free education.

Why Two Additional Rooms Are Needed

    Currently:

    • No staff room (teachers work in corridors/ground).
    • No computer lab (digital literacy is zero in the region).
    • Space crunch is growing as enrollment increases every year.

      Proposed construction:
One Staff Room – for teachers to prepare lessons, maintain records, meet parents
One Computer Room – to start basic computer learning for children in the mountains

These two rooms will transform the academic environment and align with the goal of developing a Green & Digital Model School in a remote Himalayan region.
