Samoon Humanity Care Centre (SHCC)

Proposal
Project Details
  •  Proposal
  • Target Area: Near Sourpani / NH-58, Tehri Garhwal (or suitable land between Rishikesh & Devprayag)
  • Goal / Objective:

The primary objective of the Samoon Humanity Care Centre (SHCC) is to provide safe, dignified, and compassionate residential care to elderly persons (60+ years) in rural Uttarakhand who lack family support, regular income, and access to healthcare and social protection.

  • Executive Summary (Concept Note):

Uttarakhand is experiencing continuous migration of its younger population to metropolitan cities and abroad for employment and education. As families relocate, elderly parents are often left behind in villages with minimal support systems. Many senior citizens face daily challenges such as lack of care, food insecurity, emotional isolation, unsafe housing, and limited access to healthcare.

The Samoon Humanity Care Centre (SHCC) is proposed as a 60-bed, affordable, two-storey residential old age care home near Sourpani on NH-58. The centre will provide safe accommodation, nutritious food, basic medical support, and a respectful community environment for elderly persons who are unable to live independently.

The project follows a cost-efficient rural model designed for long-term sustainability, dignity, and improved elder welfare.

Current Socio-Economic Status of the Area and Target Group

The project area consists of semi-rural and rural regions of Uttarakhand where healthcare facilities are limited and transport connectivity is difficult. Due to outward migration of family members, many elderly residents live alone without financial or emotional support.

Reduced mobility, lack of income sources, and inadequate medical access increase vulnerability among senior citizens in these regions.

    Target Group:
Elderly persons (60+ years) who lack family care, stable income, and regular access to healthcare and social support services.

  • Proposed Activities:

          • • Construction of a two-storey residential elder care facility (G+1 RCC structure)
            • Development of living infrastructure including rooms, toilets, and common areas
            • Establishment of a small medical clinic within the facility
            • Provision of daily nutrition and basic healthcare monitoring
            • Arrangement of caregivers and support staff
            • Creation of a safe, respectful, and socially supportive living environment

        • Implementation Plan:
                  • Project Duration: 4 Months (Aug 2026 – Dec 2026)
