  •  Proposal
  • Target Area:: Samoon Adarsh Vidhyalaya - Osla, Har Ki Dun Valley, District - Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand
  • Goal/Objective:

The main goal of this project is to provide 100 underprivileged children of Osla and nearby villages with free, inclusive, and quality education. The initiative covers their annual academic expenses including uniforms, books, stationery, and activity materials. Through this support, the project seeks to create equal learning opportunities, reduce dropout rates, and strengthen the educational foundation of children living in one of India’s most remote Himalayan regions.

  • Background/Need Assessment:

Osla is one of the last inhabited villages of Uttarkashi, situated deep within the Govind National Park. The region faces extreme isolation with no proper roads, electricity, or communication for months each year.

Most families depend on farming and daily wage work, leaving little scope for children’s education. Before Samoon Foundation established Samoon Adarsh Vidyalaya in 2021, many children had never attended school. This project was born out of the urgent need to provide consistent, free, and quality education to children who otherwise would have no access to learning facilities.

  • Executive Summary / Concept Note:

The “Student Sponsorship Program” aims to support 100 rural children studying at Samoon Adarsh Vidyalaya, Osla, by covering their annual education expenses.

Each student receives free education, uniform, stationery, books, and activity materials under this initiative. The school runs completely on community support, with no government aid. Members and donors of Samoon Foundation — many of whom are NRIs — contribute from their hard-earned income to sustain operations.

The proposed sponsorship model will ensure long-term sustainability and improve learning outcomes in one of India’s most inaccessible regions.
